Governor Warner to Attend Sunday’s Valley Baseball League Game in Staunton

Virginia Governor Mark Warner will be in Staunton, Va. on Sunday, June 26 at 7:15 p.m. to attend the Valley Baseball League game between the Staunton Braves and the Woodstock River Bandits at John Moxie Memorial Stadium in Staunton’s Gypsy Hill Park.

Governor Warner will take part in pregame ceremonies with both teams and then will greet fans while watching the game.  The visit is intended to promote the Valley Baseball League and local tourism in the Shenandoah Valley area.

The 2005 season marks the 44th year for the Valley Baseball League as an NCAA-sanctioned summer wooden bat league.  The league, which is also sponsored by Major League Baseball, features 10 teams in the Shenandoah Valley region of the state.  Cities sponsoring teams include Covington, Front Royal, Harrisonburg, Haymarket, Luray, New Market, Staunton, Waynesboro, Winchester, and Woodstock.
