University of Miami first baseman Yonder Alonso, who helped lead the Luray Wranglers to the 2006 Valley Baseball League Championship, was selected seventh overall in the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Cincinnati Reds, making him the first former Valley Leaguer taken.  Check back following the conclusion of the draft for a full list of former players picked.
