With identical records of 13-6, the Luray Wranglers (#15) and Waynesboro Generals (#11) debuted in PGCrosschecker.com’s Summer 16 rankings of the top summer collegiate teams in the nation in the second week of the poll.

Tied for the best record the Valley League at 13-6, the Waynesboro Generals become #11 on PGCrosschecker.com. Waynesboro finished the year in 2007 at #6 after winning the VBL championship.  Two pitchers who helped them become #11 are Jared Dobbs and Adam Liberatore, who are both from Tennessee Tech. Dobbs has an ERA of 0.47 and a record of 3-1. He has 18 strikeouts with just three walks and a .200 opponent batting average in 19 1/3 innings pitched. Adam Liberatore has also had a positive impact on Waynesboro with his 32 strikeouts and just four walks. Liberatore’s has a 0.62 ERA with a record of 3-0 and a .157 opponent batting average in 29 innings pitched. He was one of last week’s VBL Pitchers of the Week.  Returning from 2007, Brandon Sizemore leads the way with a .356 average, six doubles, and three home runs for the Generals.  He has at least one hit in every game this season for a 12-game hitting streak.

At #15 on PGCrosschecker.com, the Luray Wranglers have won six out their last eight games with help from Kyle Cichy (Virginia Tech) and Travis Smink (VMI) on the mound. Cichy is 2-0 on the season with a 1.83 ERA and has 23 strikeouts with the opponents’ batting average at .234.  Smink has very similar stats with an ERA of 1.80 and a 3-0 record for the year. He has 18 strikeouts and the opponents’ batting average comes out to be .239.  Batting well for the Wranglers is Jeff Jefferson (Liberty) with a batting average of .297. Jefferson has 14 runs scored, 19 total hits, three doubles, four home runs, 11 RBIs and 34 total bases.
