The American Baseball Coaches Association has released its list of Division-II Regional All-Americans, and a full dozen former Valley Leaguers have been named! Let’s take a look:
East Region
-1st Team P- Jack Galligan, Sr., Thomas Jefferson (Strasburg 2017)- Went 6-1, 2.91, with a 1.06 WHIP and 50 K’s in 46 1/3 innings.
Atlantic Region
-1st Team OF- Derek Orndorff, Sr., Seton Hill (Front Royal 2019)- Hit .353/.467/.755 in 155 at-bats, with 53 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, 15 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases.
-1st Team OF- Caleb Walls, Gr., Shepherd (Covington 2017, Harrisonburg 2018)- Hit .395/.484/.744 in 129 at-bats, with 42 runs, 23 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 14 stolen bases
-2nd Team OF- Bren Taylor, So., Millersville (Staunton 2021)- Hit .399/.500/.582 in 158 at-bats, with 44 runs scored, 12 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 36 RBIs, 11 HBP, a 21/19 BB/K ratio, and 11 stolen bases
-2nd Team OF- Cole Friese, Sr., Millersville (Staunton 2019)- Hit .335/.411/.544 in 158 at-bats, with 44 runs, three doubles, 10 home runs, 36 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases
-2nd Team DH- Tre’von Smith, Jr., Glenville State (Charlottesville 2018)- Hit .352/.397/.607 in 122 at-bats, with 11 doubles, a triple, six home runs, and 34 RBIs
South Region
-1st Team OF- Dylan Menhennett, Sr., West Florida (Front Royal 2019)- Hit .380/.448/.604 in 192 at-bats, with 50 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 47 RBIs, 22/24 BB/K ratio, and nine stolen bases. He was also ATVL’s 14th best hitter in the VBL in 2019.
-1st Team OF- Adan Fernandez, Jr., Nova Southeastern (New Market 2018)- In 86 at-bats, Fernandez hit .360/.486/.802, with 21 runs, five doubles, 11 home runs, 25 RBIs, and a 16/24 BB/K ratio.
-1st Team DH- David Maberry, Sr., Valdosta State (New Market 2018, Waynesboro 2019)- Hit .356/.453/.561 in 132 at-bats, with six doubles, seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and 10 HBP
-1st Team P- Jonathan Pintaro, Jr., Shorter (Strasburg 2018, Winchester 2019), also named South Region Pitcher of the Year, and Nation-wide 2nd Team All-American– He went 10-4, 2.93, with a 1.01 WHIP and 150 K’s in 101 1/3 innings pitched
Midwest Region
-1st Team 1B- Andrew Czech, Sr., Walsh (Staunton 2019), also named Nation-wide 3rd Team All-American and ATVL’s 3rd best hitter in the 2019 VBL Season- hit .374/.559/.832 in 131 at-bats, with 50 runs scored, nine doubles, 17 home runs, 47 RBIs, and an other-worldly 51/17 BB/K ratio
-1st Team 3B- Zion Pettigrew, Jr., Illinois-Springfield (Winchester 2018), named Midwest Region Player of the Year, and Nation-wide 1st Team All-American- Hit .440/.514/.940 in 150 at-bats, with 53 runs scored (in 38 games!), 30 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs, 55 RBIs, and a 24/27 BB/K ratio.
