The Valley Baseball League has learned that Bernie Schaffler, a former team owner in the VBL passed away Wednesday morning after a battle with cancer. Schaffler was a managing partner of the Haymarket franchise/
In 2007, Bernie and his wife Robin along with Scott and Jayme Newell, took over as the ownership group of the Haymarket franchise. Haymarket won the VBL title in 2009.
The VBL sends its prayers and condolences to the Schaffler family.
