Long time Staunton businessman and Valley League owner Boyd L. Snyder died Tuesday, April 13, at the age of 80.

Along with his wife, Kay, Snyder owned the Staunton baseball club for seventeen years, taking over ownership in 2001. He was known to greet fans with a smile and a handshake as they came through the gate at John Moxie Stadium, and he and his wife ran much of the club, from keeping the books, recruiting host families, finding sponsorships, and setting up camps for young players. Staunton advanced to the Valley League finals three times during his tenure. He will be missed.

The Valley League sends out condolences to the Snyder family.
