Winchester’s Austin Bulman, New Market’s Reed Mascolo, and Charlottesville’s Kory Koehler were awarded some hardware in the 2021 Valley League award voting.

The All-VBL teams are chosen by a vote of team and media representatives across the Valley. Bulman is the 2021 Most Valuable Player, while Mascolo earned Pitcher of the Year honors. Koehler is the Maynard “Mo” Weber Manager of the Year.

Bulman, from Rice University, hit .379/.424/.661 over 124 at-bats, with 31 runs scored, 14 doubles, seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and even seven stolen bases without being caught. He finished 3rd in the league in all three rate stats, tied for fifth in runs, tied for second in hits, first in doubles, tied for fifth in home runs, and second in RBIs.

Mascolo, a righthander from Wake Forest, went 4-1, 2.85 in 34 2/3 innings pitched. He allowed only 21 hits, walked 16, and struck out 42. He finished third in ERA, tied for third in wins, and finished fourth in strikeouts.

Charlottesville’s Koehler led his squad to a 30-10 regular season record, winning the South Division by 10.5 games. The team’s .750 is one of the best records in the last 27 seasons of Valley League play.
