Three Purcellville pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout in an 8-0 victory over the New Market Rebels.

The Cannons advance in the playoffs and will travel to Woodstock on Friday for a semifnal matchup in the North Division.

Corey Costello (Radford) pitched six dominant innings, allowing just one base hit. Costello struck out 10 and walked four. Ryan Morrison (Wichita State) pitched two innings and allowed one hit. Morrison struck out two. Zach Duenas (Southern Illinois-Edwardsville) finished up and struck out two in the ninth.

Anthony Fernandez (St. Bonaventure) was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Thomas Marsala (Northwestern State) and Colson Wood (North Central Texas College) each added two base hits.

Matt Murphy (Salem CC) and Caleb Newsomer (Shippensburg) each had a hit for the Rebels.

Winchester, 8, Front Royal 6

Winchester scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally for an 8-6 victory over the Front Royal Cardinals.

The Royals advance to the division semifinals and will travel to Strasburg to play the top-seeded Express.

Marc Hersh (FIU) singled in a run to cut the Cards lead to one run in the eighth and an error allowed the tying and go-ahead runs to score.

Hersh finished the night 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Troy Davis (East Stroudsburg) was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and Ian Kaiser (Binghamton) was 3-for-4.

Kaiser also got the win on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing one run on one hit. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Michael Rowlands (Lynchburg) retired the side in the ninth to earn the save.

Brandon Butler (Slippery Rock) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Cardinals in the leadoff spot. Ryan Chase (Santa Fe) and Dyland Winebrenner (Richmond) each belted a solo homer.

Front Royal starter Cortland Clarke pitched four innings and allowed one run on one base hit. Clarke struck out six and walked one.
