How it happened: Culpeper took the lead with five runs in the fourth inning and rolled to a 12-2 victory over Covington in eight innings. Gabriel Larry (Mississippi State) and Eric Correa (Rice) each drove in a run with a single and Rett Johnson (South Alabama) capped the fourth with a three-run homer, giving the Cavaliers a 6-2 lead.
Cavaliers Highlights: Johnson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jon Howard (Mt. Olive) had a huge night, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two homers, four runs scored and two RBIs. Tyler Shulman (Harvard) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Larry finished 2-for-4 with two runs and one run batted in. Ryan Kroepel (Arizona State) was 3-for-5 with a run and a run batted in. Ryan Peterson (VMI) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Brok Eddy (Arizona State) pitched seven innings to get the win. He allowed two runs on two hits while striking out eight and walking one.
Lumberjacks Highlights: Brennan Wright (Meridian CC) was 2-for-4 and Chenar Brown (Louisiana Monroe) was 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs.
