Hitter of the Day
The hitter of the day, in a close call, is Harrisonburg’s Mitch Farris, from Wingate. Farris went 3-5, with three runs and three RBIs, along with a walk, double, and triple. Farris is now hitting .280/.402/.548 in 93 at bats this summer, with 23 runs, six doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 17 RBIs.

The POD is Winchester’s Brian Young, from Rider, who fired 5 2/3 excellent innings against Woodstock, allowing only two hits, two walks, and no runs, while striking out nine. He earned the win and a game score of 72. He’s been very, very good this summer: he’s 3-1, 1.19 in 22 2/3 innings, with 15 hits, nine walks, and 30 K’s.
