Charlottesville 16, Waynesboro 4 (5 innings)
How it happened: The Tom Sox scored 11 runs in their first two at-bats and coasted to the 16-4 victory in a game stopped after five innings due to rain. Jake Books (Coastal Carolina) put the Sox on the board with a two-run double in the first and Colby Wallace (ECU) followed with a run-scoring triple for a 3-0 lead. Wallace scored on a sac fly by Blake Brookins (Florida) to make it 4-0. Charlottesville added seven runs in the second inning. Books drove in two more runs with a single and Nick Parham (ECU) highlighted the frame with a three-run triple.
Tom Sox Highlights: Ethan Gibson (Virginia Tech) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Books finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Wallace went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Generals: Cesar Morillo (St. Andrews) drove in a pair of runs for the Generals.
Culpeper 11, Staunton 6
How it happened: Culpeper scored four runs in the bottom of the first to lead 4-1 and led the rest of the way. Connor Maryniak (Misericordia) belted a three-run homer in the first for the Cavs, the first of four homers for the home team.
Cavaliers Highlights: Maryniak finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jon Howard (Mt. Olive) was 2-for-2 with a homer, three runs score and three RBIs. Bennett Fryman (Arizona State) and Brock Bollinger (Misericordia) also homered for Culpeper.
Braves Highlights: Noah Canterbury was 3-for-5 with a solo homer. Nate Prince (Roanoke) was 2-for-4. Brad Garner (VMI had a solo homer.
