Purcellville 5, Winchester 3
How it happened: Purcellville tied the score with a three-run fifth inning and then added a run in the sixth to take the lead in its win over Winchester. Shintaro Inoue (Kansas State) drove in two runs in the fifth with a double and Bear Madliak (Jacksonville State) scored Inoue with a single to tie the game at 3-3. The Cannons took the lead with an unearned run in the sixth and added an insurance run in the eighth on a run-scoring single by Mitsuki Kohno (Christian Brothers) to win 5-3.
Cannons Highlights: Kohno finished 2-for-4 with a run batted in and Inoue had two RBIs. Aiden Adams (San Jacinto) picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. He allowed one hit and struck out four while walking just one. Zach Duenas (Western Kentucky) worked a 1-2-3 ninth to get the save.
Royals Highlights: Leadoff hitter Shanley Wall (East Stroudsburg) was 2-for-5.
Woodstock 6, New Market 3
How it happened: Woodstock scored four runs in the third inning to lead 5-1 and held on for the 6-3 win over the Rebels. Ryan Wilson’s (Middle Georgia) two-run double highlighted the third innings. Wilson scored on a single by Ryan Zuckerman (Pittsburgh), giving the Bandits a 5-1 lead.
River Bandits Highlights: Wilson finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Preston Joye (Mercer) drove in two runs. Kobe White (Stephen F. Austin) was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Ryan Cowell (Virginia Wesleyan) picked up the win, pitching 1.2 shutout innings. Stephen West (Florida Memorial) worked the ninth to earn the save.
Rebels Highlights: Gaetan Grandelli (West Chester) was 2-for-5 and Johnathan Mallow (Millersville) was 2-for-4. Dalton Turner (Holy Names) was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Shawn Mannering (Pitt-Bradford) pitched three hitless innings. He struck out five and walked two.
