MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Robert Kelley fom WVU Tech is the River States Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 4-10. Kelley pitched in the VBL a year ago for the Harrisonburg Turks. Prior to that, he pitched for the Strasburg Express.
A junior right-hander, Kelley struck out 15 batters in a 1-0 win over Midway (Ky.) to claim the award. That came in a complete-game effort of 9.0 innings versus the Eagles.
Kelley allowed four hits and no runs and offered just one walk. He struck out the side in the first inning and kept going, getting two key double plays along the way as well to help preserve the shutout.
