New Market shortstop Johnathan Mallow (Millersville) is the VBL North Division Player of the Week and Purcellville’s Bauer Burkhart (Marshall) is the Pitcher of the Week.

Mallow hit .438 in five games with a homer and four RBIs. Mallow has hit safely in his past four games and has three, two-hit games during the stretch.

Other nominees included:

Jake Slade (Virginia Tech): The Purcellville infielder is batting .400 with a homer and five RBIs in eight games.

Jayson Gonzalez (Iona): The Winchester middle infielder is hitting .364 through eight games. He has five RBIs and five stolen bases.

Bauer made four appearances during the week and picked up two wins and a save. He pitched a total of 3.2 shutout innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out four batters and walked one.

Other nominees included:

Joshua Berzonski (PSU-Harrisburg): The New Market RHP made two starts and worked 10 innings. He has a 1.80 ERA and 14 strikeouts and just one walk.

Dalton Williams (High Point): The Winchester RHP worked a total of seven innings and is 1-0. He has not allowed a run and has eight strikeouts to his credit.

Chase Ingram (UAB): The Strasburg RHP made two starts this week and went a combined seven innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Logan Waldschmidt (Pasco Hernando): The Strasburg reliever made two appearances and went a combined eight innings, allowing six hits and one earned run. He struck out five and walked one.

Jim Wigo (Monmouth): The Strasburg RHP made two starts this week and went a combined five innings and allowed no runs on just two hits while striking out five.
