Three New Market pitchers combined on an eight-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over Purcellville.
Garrett Wright (Augusta State) got the start and pitched four innings, allowing four hits while striking out four. Jason Cheifetz got the win, pitching three innings and allowing four hits. Luke McGrath (JMU worked the final two innings and did not allow a hit to get the save.
Christopher Harbert (Potomac State) had two of New Market’s five hits.
Cannons’ starter Connor Hensley (Rollins) took the loss despite five strong innings on the mound. Hensley allowed one run on four hits. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Front Royal 7, Woodstock 0
Three Cardinals pitchers combined on a four-hitter in a 7-0 win over Woodstock.
Jackson Bellhorn (North Florida) got the win, pitching five innings and giving up just two hits. He struck out six and walked two. Ryan Curl (Lynchburg) pitched two innings and allowed one hit while striking out three. Matthew Koeneke (Frederick CC) pitched the ninth. Koeneke allowed one hit and fanned two batters.
Isaiah Frost (Missouri) was 2-for-4 and had two RBIs. Josue Figueroa (Florida A&M) and Sota Teshima (Santa Ana) each had two base hits. Teshima scored three runs.
Strasburg 17, Winchester 7
Strassburg broke the game open early with an eight-run third inning to defeat the Winchester Royals.
Topher Jones (Pearl River) was 4-for-5 with a homer and three runs scored for the winners. Josh Ibe (Stephen F. Austin) was 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs.
Jaime Padilla (Shenandoah), Parker Frey (East Stroudsburg) and Ryan Frontera (Seton Hall) each had two hits for the Royals. Joey Agar (Mount St. Mary’s) and Frey both had two RBIs.
