Woodstock 5, New Market 4 – 12 innings
How it happened: Woodstock’s Kobe White (Stephen F. Austin) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the River Bandits to a 5-4 win. New Market scored four runs in the top of the ninth to tie the score and force extra innings.
River Bandits Highlights: Starting pitcher Brandon Eldredge (Florida Southwestern) worked five shutout innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. Ryan Cowell (Virginia Wesleyan) pitched three innings and did not allow a hit. He struck out four and walked two. Pedro Acosta (Nova Southeastern) did not allow a hit over the final 2.2 innings to pick up the win. He struck out three. White was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Chaz Salter (Middle Georgia) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Rebels Highlights: Dylan Sattazahn (PSU-Harrisburg) pitched 4.1 shutout innings, allowing just two base hits. He struck out three and walked one.
Strasburg 8, Front Royal 6.
How it happened: Strasburg scored four runs in the third to lead 7-3 and held on for the 8-6 victory. Nick Locurto (Virginia Tech) led off the inning with a homer and teammate Diego Villescas added a run-scoring triple in the inning.
Express Highlights: Tait Nunnally (Eastern Kentucky), Cade Carr (Samford) and Locurto each had two hits. Locurto and Nunnally each drove in two runs. Evan Bert (VCU) struck out two batters in his one inning on the mound to pick up the win.
Cardinals Highlights: Jimmy King (Holy Cross) was 2-for-4. Andrew Ruggeri (Penn) added a two-run homer.
