Strasburg 9, Winchester 3

How it happened: Strasburg scored four runs in the second to lead 4-0 and never looked back in its win over the Royals. Miles Curley had the big hit in the second with a two-run single. The Royals scored two in the eighth to close to within 6-3, the Express added three runs in the ninth for the final margin.

Express Highlights: Nick Locurto (Virginia Tech) was 3-for-5 with a run batted in. Cade Carr (Samford) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Diego Villescas (New Orleans) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one batted in. Chase Ingram (UAB) was the winning pitcher with five scoreless innings. He allowed four hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter.

Royals Highlights: Austin Lafferty (Akron) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jaylen Hernandez (Winthrop) was 2-for-4.

Woodstock 3, Purcellville 1

How it happened: Peeko Townsend (Blue Mountain) drove in a run in the first inning and the River Bandits added runs in the sixth and seventh innings to lead 3-0. The Cannons avoided the shutout with a run in the ninth on a double by Jacob McKenzie (College of Central Florida)

River Bandits Highlights: Ryan Miller (Middle Georgia) was 2-for-3 with a run batted in. Ryan Zuckerman (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4. Braydon Gray (Stonehill) was the winning pitcher. He worked six shutout frames and allowed three hits. He struck out four and walked three.

Cannons Highlights: JQuann Smith (FIU) was 3-for-4. Jaydon Bishop (FIU) allowed one run on six hits in five innings. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

New Market 4, Front Royal 3

How it happened: New Market erased a 2-1 deficit with three runs in the eighth and held on for the one-run victory. Johnathan Mallow put the Rebels ahead with his two-run single in the eighth inning. Ledy Alvarez led off the ninth for Front Royal with a double and scored on a ground ball to make it a one-run game, 5-4, but the Rebels’ John Henry Williams (Arkansas State) retired the next two hitters to preserve the win.

Rebels Highlights: Mallow finished with a 2-for-4 night. Josh Berzonski (PSU-Harrisburg) pitched six innings and allowed one run on six hits. He struck out nine and walked one.

Cardinals Highlights: Alvarez finished 2-for-4. Jimmy King (Holy Cross) was 2-for-5 with a run batted in. Nick Mullen (George Washington) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Oliver Ellison (Coastal Carolina) pitched four inning and did not allow a hit. He struck out one and walked one.
