Staunton 14, Culpeper 2

How it happened: The Braves took an early lead on Charlie Keller’s (Mississippi Gulf Coast) solo homer and then added five runs in the sixth, two on a double by AJ Wenrich (Georgia Southern) to take a 6-0 lead. After Culpeper pulled to within 6-2 on a two-run homer by Ryan Kroepel (Arizona State), the Braves scored eight runs in the eighth to put the game away. Tim Dickinson (St. Joseph’s) started the onslaught with a two-run double and Wenrich added a grand slam.

Braves Highlights: Wenrich had a huge night with a double, a grand slam and six RBIs. Dickinson was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Breckin Nace (Radford) got the win with five shutout innings. He allowed one hit while striking out seven and walking one.

Cavaliers Highlights: Kroepel knocked in both runs with his homer. Brock Eddy (Arizona State) pitched five innings and allowed one run on two hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Harrisonburg 10, Charlottesville 1

How it happened: The Turks scored four times in the first inning and never looked back in the 10-1 victory. Brett Wehringer (Georgetown) had the big hit with a bases-loaded single.

Turks Highlights: Chris Katz (Wake Forest) was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Leadoff hitter Anthony Paskell (Rider) was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Wehringer finished with three RBIs. Carson Morton (Wingate) pitched four innings and allowed one hit and no earned runs. He fanned three and walked four. Hudson Lee (Wake Forest) added four shutout frames and allowed just one hit. He struck out seven and walked one.

Covington 6, Waynesboro 5

How it happened: Jackson Toberman (St. Johns River) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to force in the go-ahead run. Jorge Garcia III (Atlantis) retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to close out the 6-5 win for the Jacks.

Lumberjacks Highlights: Garcia pitched the final four inning and did not allow a hit. He struck out six and walked one. Brennon Wright (Meridian CC) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Chenar Brown (Louisiana Monroe) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in and Nick Paszt (Eastern Florida State) was 2-for-3 with a run batted in. Toberman finished with two RBIs.

Generals Highlights: Kyle Neri (Rider) was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
