Waynesboro 11, Charlottesville 9
Waynesboro scored two runs in the eighth inning to edge Charlottesville 11-9.
James Green II (Presbyterian) put the Generals ahead with a two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth inning. Green finished 2-for-6 on the night with three RBIs.
Waynesboro’s Daniel Smith (Gordon College) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Anthony Clavet (Kennesaw State) added three hits for the Generals while Parker Wight (UNC-Greensboro) and Brycen Hamilton (VMI) each added two hits.
Jim Douthat (VMI) pitched the final 2.1 innings to earn the win. Douthat did not allow a hit.
For the Tom Sox, Andrew Mannelly (Wofford) was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.
Covington 8, Culpeper 5
Covington took command with five runs in the fifth inning and defeated the Cavaliers 8-5. Willy Mendez (Miami Dade) delivered the big blow with a grand slam homer.
Adin Zorn (Dayton) was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Jacks. Mendez, Justin Allen (Hillsborough) and Edwin Melendez (Lake Sumter) each added two hits.
For Culpeper, Alejandro Ludiero (Lipscomb) was 3-for-4 while Luke Smith (Rice) and Evan Escobar (San Diego State) each added two hits. Mason Breton (Long Island) belted a three-run homer for the Cavaliers.
Harrisonburg 11, Staunton 7
Harrisonburg jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held off the Braves for an 11-7 win.
Jackson Schrafft (St. Johns River) led the Turks with a 4-for-5 night, including a homer and three RBIs. Josiah Seguin (Chipola) and Amaury DeJesus (Miami) each added three hits for the Turks. Seguin drove in four runs. Jalen Evans (Wingate) was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Turks’ starter Adam Horvath (JMU) allowed four hits and one unearned run in four innings.
Mikey Urbaniak (Longwood), Wyatt Campbell (Florida Southern) and Aaron Jamison (South Carolina) each had two hits for the Braves.
Woodstock 3, New Market 1
Woodstock shut down the Rebels offense Saturday for a 3-1 victory.
Woodstock starter Sean Keener (Virginia Wesleyan) allowed one run on five hits in five innings. Dominic Capparella (Mt. Saint Mary’s) pitched three shutout innings to earn the win. He did not allow a hit. Ryan Cowell (Virginia Wesleyan) struck out three in the ninth and stranded two runners to get the save.
Barrett Eldridge (Rice) drove in two runs for the River Bandits with a double.
For the Rebels, Jack Hobson (West Alabama) had two base hits.
New Market starter Spencer Williams (Liberty) allowed just one hit and struck out seven in his five innings on the mound.
Strasburg 8, Winchester 3
Strasburg rallied from a 3-0 deficit with five runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to defeat Winchester 8-3.
Landon Beaver (UAB) was 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for the winnings Express. Cristian De Los Santos (Seminole State) and Jack Anderson (JMU) each drove in two runs during Strasburg’s seventh-inning rally.
Nik Rubendall (Shepherd) drove in two runs for the Royals. Winchester starter Trent Judd (Lynchburg) pitched 5.1 shutout innings, allowing five hits while striking out six.
Front Royal 10, Purcellville 9 (10 innings)
Isaiah Frost (Missouri) was 3-for-4 for Front Royal while Jay Campbell (Florida A&M) and Aydan McNelly (Marist) each drove in a pair of runs.
Gerardo Prado (Oklahoma) had four base hits for the Cannons.
