Charlottesville 14, Waynesboro 4
Charlottesville scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to a 14-4 win over the Generals.
Will Jennewein (University of the South) had a two-run single in the first and Evan Taveras (Miami) added a two-run homer in the inning.
Taveras finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Brock Clayton (Florida) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Kyle Langley (JMI) was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Patrick Niehus (Gardner-Webb) added a three-run homer for the Tom Sox.
Seth Buchanan (VMI) had two hits and Nathan Fink (Sam Houston State) drove in two runs for the Generals.
Woodstock 5, Front Royal 1
Woodstock snapped a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Cardinals 5-1.
Will Tippett (College of Charleston) was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a double and two RBIs to lead the River Bandits. Luke Keister (Shenandoah), Eli Hudgins (Radford) and Conner Spelman (Jacksonville) each added two base hits for Woodstock.
Six Woodstock pitchers combined to limit the Cardinals to four hits. Bandits’ starter Joseph Dimino (North Florida) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Grant Gilooly (Dyersburg State) doubled in Front Royal’s only run.
Front Royal starter Noah Parks (Keystone) pitched three shutout innings, allowing just two hits. He fanned two and walked one.
Staunton 8, Covington 2
The Braves scored three runs in the first and never trailed in an 8-2 victory over Covington.
Joey Little (East Tennessee State) was 3-for-3 with a homer, three runs scored and three RBIs. Ty Galusky (East Tennessee State) was 3-for-3 and LT Cockrill (Delaware) drove in two runs for the Braves.
Staunton starter Jack Vest (East Tennessee State) pitched four innings and allowed one earned run on two hits. He struck out five and walked one. Ismael Borrero (Mercer) pitched four scoreless innings to get the win. Borrero struck out six and walked one.
Victor Sanchez had two hits for the Lumberjacks.
Harrisonburg 7, Culpeper 6
The Turks scored four runs in the top of the ninth to overtake Culpeper 7-6.
Ben Garber (Rochester) was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Turks. Jalen Evans also had two hits for Harrisonburg.
Evan Escobar (Wichita State) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Cavaliers. Keeten Burroughs (Pittsburgh) added two base hits.
Culpeper starter Alexander Crudder (Lynchburg) allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings. He struck out seven and walked four.
New Market 8, Winchester 4
The Rebels pulled away with four runs in the sixth to defeat Winchester 8-4.
Ike Schmidly (JMU) and Matt Murphy (Salem CC) were both 2-for-5 and both drove in two runs. Jake Henry Williams (Arkansas State), Blaine Waltimyer (Penn State-Harrisburg) and Johnathan Mallow (Potomac State) each added two base hits.
Rebels’ starter Bryce Pax allowed on earned run on two hits in six innings on the mound.
Jaime Padilla (Shenandoah) had two hits for the Royals.
