Braves 8, Turks 3
How it happened: Staunton used the long ball to open an 8-0 lead and went on to defeat the Turks 8-3. The Braves scored five runs in the second inning. Noah Canterbury (Fairmont State) led off with a single and AJ Wenrich (Georgia Southern) followed with a homer for a 2-0 lead. A solo homer by Gage Bibey (St. Bonaventure) made it 3-0. Tim Dickinson (St. Joseph’s) plate a run with a sac fly and Jake D’Altrui (New Orleans) added a run-scoring single for a 5-0 Braves lead. Wenrich belted a solo homer in the fifth and Nate Prince (Roanoke) added a run-scoring single as the lead grew to 8-0. Luke Hatcher (West Georgia) hit a pair of homers to account for the three Harrisonburg runs.
Braves Highlights: Wenrich finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jacob Lester (Trevecca Nazarene), Bibey and Frankie Carreras (Trevecca Nazarene) were all 2-for-4. Evan McDade (Fairmont State) pitched 1.2 shutout innings to get the win. McDade entered in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out and worked out of the jam.
Turks Highlights: Hatcher was 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Chris Katz (Wake Forest) was 2-for-5.
Charlottesville 6, Covington 4
How it happened: Charlottesville scored two runs in the top of the ninth to snap a 4-4 tie and take a 6-4 victory at Covington. With one out in the ninth, Johnnie Lopez (Seminole State) and David Wiley (Wofford) both singled. A double steal put both in scoring position and Nick Parham (East Carolina) singled in the go-ahead runs.
Tom Sox Highlights: Sam Mummau (Florida) was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Ryan Wynn (Wofford) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Evan Sutton (Georgia) pitched four innings and allowed one run on three hits. He struck out six and walked one.
Lumberjacks Highlights: Chenar Brown (Louisiana Monroe) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Jose Alfonso was 2-for-3 with a run batted in.
Waynesboro 16, Culpeper 9 (10 innings)
How it happened: Waynesboro scored eight runs in the top of the 10th inning to down Culpeper. Kishon Frett (FIU) capped the extra-inning uprising with a grand slam homer.
Generals Highlights: Frett was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Kyle Neri (Rider) was 2-for-4. Aidan Miller (Eastern Mennonite) was 2-for-6 and scored two runs. Ryan Cleary (St. Andrews) pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit. He struck out four and walked one.
Cavaliers Highlights: Brock Bollinger (Misericordia) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Ryan Storey (South Alabama) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Ryan Kroepel (Arizona State) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Tucker pitched three hitless innings and struck out two batters.
