Three players tied in the voting for the Player of the Year Award in the South Division.
Harrisonburg OF Chris Katz (Wake Forest), Staunton OF AJ Wenrich (Georgia Southern) and Culpeper shortstop Connor Maryniak (Charlotte) each received two votes from the six teams voting.
Katz finished the year with a .340 batting average. He led the league in doubles with 12 and tied for the league lead in base hits with 49. He tied for the South Division lead in RBIs with 32 and posted a .941 OPS.
Wenrich led the Valley League with 10 home runs. He hit for a .301 average and tied Katz for the division lead in RBIs with 32. Among batters with at least 80 plate appearances, Wenrich’s 1.027 OPS ranked second in the league.
Maryniak hit .337 on the season with five doubles, a triple and two homers. He finished the season with 17 RBIs and seven stolen bases in four games. He was also one of the top fielding shortstops in the league with a .947 fielding percentage.
