Charlottesville 8, Waynesboro 5

The Tom Sox jumped out to an 8-1lead and that was enough to withstand a four-run ninth inning from Waynesboro as the Sox held on for an 8-5 win.

Charlottesville advances in the South Division and will travel to Staunton on Friday to play the No. 2 seeded Braves.

The Tom Sox took control with five runs in the third inning on just two base hits.

Kyle Langley (JMU) and Brock Clayton (Florida) each had two hits for the Tom Sox. Jackson Sirois (Maryland) had two runs batted in.

Brandon Eldridge (Florida Southwestern) pitched 6.2 innings to earn the win. He allowed just one run on three hits. Eldridge struck out five and walked three batters. Trevor Booton (Auburn) came in with two outs and the bases full in the ninth to get the final out and earn the save.

Mac Dye (ODU) was 2-for-4 with a solo homer for Waynesboro. Noah Murray (Virginia) added two hits.

Culpeper 11, Covington 10

Culpeper pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth to win a wild, 11-10, contest over the Covington Lumberjacks.

With the win, Culpeper advances in the South, to play top-seeded Harrisonburg on Friday.

Alejandro Ludeiro (Lipscomb) singled with one out in the eight and Blagen Pado (Coastal Carolina) followed with a triple, giving the Cavs an 11-10 lead.

Ludeiro and Mason Breton (Long Island) each had two hits for the Cavaliers. Pado and Kelly Crittenberger (Northwestern) each drove in two runs.

Owen Winebarger (Elon) came out of the pen and pitched the final 5.2 innings. Winebarger allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits.

For the Jacks, Andres Gonzalez (Lakeland CC), Victor Sanchez (Oklahoma Wesleyan) and Braden Durfee (Pasco Hernando CC) each had two base hits. Gonzalez, Durfee and Willy Mendez (Miami Dade) each drove in two runs.
