Covington 4, Staunton 2
Covington: Gabriel Gutierrez (Temple) pitched 4.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits while striking out two and walking two. John Vasquez (Barry) pitched two innings and picked up the win. He allowed two hits and no runs. Jackson Toberman (St. John’s River) was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Staunton: Connor Henk (Johns Hopkins) pitched three shutout innings, allowing two hits. He struck out three and walked two. LT Cockrill (State College of Florida) was 2-for-4.
Harrisonburg 4, Culpeper 3
Harrisonburg: Chris Katz (Wake Forest) was 2-for-4. Luke Hatcher had a two-run single in the top of the ninth to drive in what proved to be the winning run. Lane Duff (JMU) pitched two hitless innings and struck out two to get the win.
Culpeper: Jon Howard (Mt. Olive) was 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Tyler Smith (Auburn) pitched 3.1 innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out one and walked one.
Winchester 13, Woodstock 0
Winchester: William Ross (North Florida) pitched five innings and allowed no runs on one hit. He struck out four and walked four. Jack Mosh (Minnesota) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Austin Lafferty (Akron) was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Jayson Gonzalez (Iona) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Purcellville 16, Front Royal 1
Purcellville: Shintaro Inoue (Kansas State) was 3-for-5 with a double and six RBIs. Jake Slade (Virginia Tech) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Landry Jurecka (Queens( pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Kaleb Freeman (Auburn) was 1-for-5 but his one hit was a three-run homer.
Front Royal: Broedy Poppell (Florida A&M) was 2-for 3 with a solo homer.
Strasburg 4, New Market 1
Strasburg: Jim Wigo pitched three shutout innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out three and did not walk a batter. Aaron Schaefer (Bethune-Cookman) pitched two innings and got the win. He allowed one hit and struck out two.
