  • Charlottesville 4, Strasburg 3 (7 innings) (Game 1): Charlottesville stunned the Express with a four-run seventh to win this one.
  • Charlottesville 3, Strasburg 1 (7 innings) (Game 2): Cville stays hot and sweeps the Express. Charlottesville is now 21-14 and just a game and a half behind Waynesboro for second in the South; Express fall to 20-17, a full two games behind Woodstock for the top spot in the North.
  • Covington 3, Staunton 2: Carlos Castillo singled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to put a little more distance between the teams for the final playoff spot in the South. Jacks are 16-20; Staunton falls to 15-23.
  • Harrisonburg 5, Waynesboro 1: The Turks take over first place in the South with the win and 23-12 record. The Generals are 24-14 and a half game back.
  • Purcellville 5, New Market 1: Cannons pull into the lead for the last playoff spot in the North with this win. Record: 14-21; New Market falls to 19-19.

Hitter of the Day

The HOD is Purcellville’s Ryne Guida, who went 3-4, with an RBI, walk, and double. Guida, a junior at Florida International, is hitting .359/.402/.423 in 78 at-bats this summer, with two doubles and one home run.
