Purcellville 5, Woodstock 2

The Cannons jumped out to an early lead and held off Woodstock 5-2.

Carlos Sanchez (Florida Southwestern St.) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Cannons. Anthony Fernandez (St. Bonaventure) and Thomas Marsala (Western Kentucky) each had two hits. Rex Smith (VCU) drove in a pair of runs.

Connor Hensley (Rollins) picked up the win for the Cannons, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just one hit. He struck out five and walked one.

Jordan Evans (Mississippi College) had two of the River Bandits’ four hits.

Harrisonburg 10, Culpeper 5

The Turks scored seven runs in the second inning and cruised to a 10-5 win over the Culpeper Cavaliers.

Harrisonburg sent 13 batters to the plate in the second inning. Clay Thompson (JMU), Jackson Schrafft (St. Johns River) and Gavin Groppuso (Wingate) each had run-scoring hits in the second.

Gropusso was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and Thompson was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Josiah Seguin (Chipola) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Ethan Belk (Wofford) and Cameron Turner (Charlotte) each had two hits for Culpeper. Kelly Crittenberger (Northwestern) homered for the Cavaliers.

Strasburg 15, Charlottesville 9

Strasburg scored eight runs in the fourth and won a slugfest over the Tom Sox 15-9.

Carter Schmitt (Randolph-Macon), Brooks Henderson (UMBC) and Jake McCarter (High Point) produced run-scoring hits during the fourth-inning outburst.

McCarter was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Express while Henderson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Logan Duff (Randolph-Macon) and Schmitt were both 2-for-4 and both scored two runs. Topher Jones (Pearl River) added two RBIs.

Adonys Velez (FIU) was 3-for-4 for the Tom Sox. James Nunnallee (Virginia) and Brock Clayton (Florida) each had two hits. Nunnallee, Preston Gamster (TCU) and Hudson Lutterman (Virginia Tech) adds two RBIs apiece.

Waynesboro 10, Front Royal 0

Waynesboro blanked Front Royal on two hits in a 10-0 win.

Waynesboro’s Thayer Tavromina (USC-Upstate) pitched five innings and allowed one hit. He struck out three and walked two. Jack Dickinson (Niagara) allowed one hit in his two innings.

Daniel Smith (Gordon College) and Parker Wight (UNC-Greensboro) both had three hits and both drove in two runs. Andrew Ildefonso was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jose Fichera had two hits and two RBIs.

Winchester 5, Staunton 3

Winchester scored two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Braves 5-3.

Joey Agar (Mt. Saint Mary’s) and John Emendorfer (Charleston Southern) each had two base hits for the winners.

Owen Powell (Francis Marion) pitched 2.2 shutout innings for the Royals, allowing one unearned run on four hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter, Divine Valle pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Valle allowed one base hit. Michael Rowlands (Lynchburg) got the final out with the bases loaded to record the save.

Parker Munday (Akron) pitched three innings for the Braves and allowed one base hit. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Wyatt Peifer (JMU was 3-for-3 with two walks while Jacob Lester (Trevecca Nazarene) was 2-for-4. Cooper McDaniel (USC-Beaufort) hit a two-run homer.

Covington 9, New Market 1

Covington scored six runs in the fifth to pull away for a 9-1 victory over the New Market Rebels.

Justin Allen (Hillsborough CC) belted a two-run homer to highlight the fifth-inning uprising.

Jason Bello (Dayton) and Martin Howell (Dayton) each had two base hits for the Jacks.

Covington starter Gavin Bennett (Potomac State) pitched 4.2 innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits.

Johnathan Mallow (Potomac State) had two hits for the Rebels.
