Five Woodstock pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 3-0 win over New Market.
Justin Silverstein (UMass-Boston) pitched four innings and allowed just one hit. He strick out eight and walked five. Zane Starling struck out two batters in the ninth and earned his league best sixth save.
The River Bandits also managed just two hits in the game.
Wyatt Land (Georgia) pitched 3.2 innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
Purcellville 5, Strasburg 3
Purcellville held on late to defeat the Strasburg Express 5-3.
Cannons leadoff batter Anthony Fernandez (St. Bonaventure) was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Gerardo Prado (Oklahoma) drove in a pair of runs.
Luke Proehl (Marshall) picked up the win in relief, pitching 3.2 shutout innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Strasburg’s Jackson Hulcher pitched three shutout innings in relief and allowed three hits. He struck out three and walked one.
Jack Anderson (JMU) was 3-for-5 with a double and triple and Josh Ibe (Stephen F. Austin) homered for the Express.
Covington 4, Harrisonburg 2
Covington jumped out to a 3-0 lead and defeated Harrisonburg 4-2.
Covington starter Johan Hidalgo (Seminole State, OK) pitched four scoreless innings and allowed just two hits. Clayton Stewart (Francis Marion) finished with 2.2 shutout innings to get the win. He struck out five and walked three.
Willy Mendez (Miami Dade) and Justin Allen (Hillsborough) each had two hits for the Jacks.
Gavin Groppuso (Wingate) was 2-for-4 and drove in both Harrisonburg runs. Turks starting pitcher Adam Horvath (JMU allowed two runs on five hits in six innings.
Culpeper 15, Winchester 2
Culpeper scored 11 runs in the third inning and coast to a 15-2 win over Winchester.
Alejandro Ludiero (Lipscomb) was 3-for-5 with a double, homer and four RBIs to pace the Cavaliers offense. Jaquae Stewart (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBIs. Caleb Estes (Charlotte) was 3-for-4 and teammate Colby Motley (Wallace CC) was 2-for-5.
Starting pitcher Carter Rasmussen (Wofford) pitched four shutout innings and allowed just three base hits.
Connor Guy (St. Johns River) and Easton Albert (East Stroudsburg) each had two hits for Winchester.
Waynesboro 4, Front Royal 3
Waynesboro scored all of its runs in the first inning and held on for a 4-3 win over Front Royal.
Singles by Gialdri Gomez (Seminole St.) Jaxon Pate (Jacksonville State) and Daniel Smith (Gordon College) loaded the bases with no outs. Andrew Ildefonso (FIU) drove in two runs with a single and Noah Murray (Virginia) added a two-run single for a 4-0 Generals lead.
Gomez and Pate finished with three hits each while Smith, Ildefonso and Murray each added two base hits.
Starting pitcher Jack Angus (Seminole St.) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits.
Darryl Lee (Bethune-Cookman) was 2-for-4 with a homer for Front Royal. Peryn Bland (Troy) also had two base hits.
