- New Market 3, Charlottesville 0 (7 innings, Game 2): That is not a typo; both games were 3-0 shutouts! New Market is now 13-10; Charlottesville falls to 9-9.
- Purcellville 3, Covington 2 (7 innings, Game 2): With the split, the Cannons are 8-13; Jacks are 9-11.
- Strasburg 2, Woodstock 1: Another pitcher’s duel- the pitchers really are throwing well as a whole this summer. Both teams are now 13-8.
Hitter of the Day
Our hitter of the day, finally getting some love in this space, is Covington’s Gavin Baird, from Bossier Parish. Over the doubleheader yesterday, the Eastern Kentucky commit went 3-5, with two runs, a double, and three walks. The junior infielder is now hitting .396/.507/.453 in 53 at-bats this summer, along with three doubles, a 12/4 BB/K ratio, and seven stolen bases. He leads the league in hitting by over 50 points! He’s also been on base in all 16 games he’s appeared in so far. At BP this spring, Baird hit .365/.476/.492 in 189 at-bats, with 16 doubles, one triple, two home runs, and an outstanding 33/18 BB/K.

Pitcher of the Day
Making his VBL debut, our pitcher of the day is New Market’s Jonathan Bautista! Bautista fired five dominant innings against Charlottesville, allowing only one hit, no runs, and one walk while striking out three in game two. He earned the win and a game score of 67, the highest of the day. The freshman righthander from Pitt threw 23 innings for the Panthers this spring.
