Strasburg 11, Purcellville
Strasburg led 7-0 after three innings Tuesday night and eased past the Purcellville Cannons 11-1.
Brett Moseley (Mississippi) continued to swing a hot bat for the Express as he hit his third homer of the season. Jack Anderson (JMU) also homered and drove in three runs. Landon Beaver (UAB) was 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBIs.
Five Strasburg pitchers combined to limit the Cannons to just two hits.
Woodstock 6, Culpeper 2
The River Bandits scored three times in the first and led all the way for a 6-2 victory over Culpeper.
Shortstop William Tippitt (South Carolina) was 3-for-4 to lead the Woodstock offense. Nazir Mendez (Eastern Kentucky) and Luke Keister (Shenandoah) each added a pair of hits.
Starter Sean Keener (Virginia Wesleyan) pitched three shutout innings, allowing just two base hits.
Evan Escober (San Diego State) drove in both Culpeper runs.
Winchester 11, Staunton 6
Winchester scored nine runs in the fourth inning and went of to defeat the Staunton Braves 11-6.
Justin Ruiz (High Point) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Royals. Jaime Padilla (Shenandoah), Ryan Frontera (Seton Hall) and Bodie Pullen (Shepherd) each had two hits.
Mikey Urbaniak (Longwood) was 3-for-5 for the Braves. Ryan Price (St. Joseph’s) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Staunton starter Peyton Jackson (Marshall) pitched three shutout innings, allowing two hits.
Harrisonburg 17, Covington 9
Harrisonburg broke open a close game with seven runs in the eighth inning to defeat Covington 17-9.
Leadoff hitter Jalen Evens (Wingate) was 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs for the Turks. Roman Trinidad (San Jacinto) and Josiah Seguin (Chipola) each added a pair of hits.
Charlie Hendrix (Georgetown) pitched six innings for the win. He allowed two earned runs on nine hits. Hendrix struck out three and did not walk a batter.
Jendy Gonzalez (Miami Dade), Adin Zorn (Dayton) and Willy Mendez (Miami Dade) each delivered three hits for the Lumberjacks.
New Market 9, Front Royal 3
New Market pulled away late to take a 9-3 victory over Front Royal.
Johnathan Mallow (Potomac State) and Logan Kelly (Colorado St.-Pueblo) each had two hits. Michael Dobkowski (Enterprise St.) drove in two runs for New Market.
New Market’s Garret Wright (Augusta State) pitched 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on seven hits.
Front’s Royal’s Jay Campbell (Florida A&M) was 2-for-3 with a homer.
