Harrisonburg workhorse Cole Dement (State College of Florida) has been named South Division Pitcher of the Week and Covington’s A.J. Barrios (Rollins) has been selected the Hitter of the Week.
Dement pitched 11.2 innings in three appearances. He allowed one earned run and eight base hits. Dement struck out eight and was the winning pitcher in two games.
Barrios arrived in Covington swinging a hot bat. In four games since joining the Jacks, Barrios is 6-for-11 with two doubles, six RBIs and a 1.178 OPS.
Other South Division Pitcher of the Week Nominees
Staunton – Matthew Lefevers (Radford) pitched five innings in a win over Covington. He allowed just two hits while striking out two and walking one.
Waynesboro – Julian Mlodzinski (FIU) pitched five innings in a winning effort, allowing just one run on four hits. He struck out four batters.
Culpeper – Mason Breton (Long Island) pitched four scoreless 4 innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out five and walked one. A two-way player, Breton was also 4-for-10 at the plate with three doubles, a homer and five RBIs.
South Hitters of the Week Nominees
Waynesboro – Noah Murray (Virginia) hit .500 on the week, going 6-for-12 with a double, triple and four runs scored.
Culpeper – Keoni Painter (BYU) played in three games and was 4-for-10 with a triple, homer and seven RBIs..
Harrisonburg – Steele Burd (Clemson) was 4-for-11 in four games with a homer, double and three RBIs.
