The Harrisonburg Turks defeated the Charlottesville TomSox, 2-0 to become the 2023 Valley Baseball League Championships. On August 4th the Turks downed the TomSox, 9-5.

The Turks took an early lead over the TomSox and held a 4-2 lead going into the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth the TomSox took a brief 5-4 lead on a 3R HR by Mr. TomSox–Garrett Spikes. But not to be held down, the Turks scored five unanswered runs topped off by a big 3-R HR in the eighth inning by South MVP Micah Morgan. Morgan went 2-5 with the big HR and 4 RBI on the night.

The Championship was the first championship by the Turks since 2012. The Championship is the first in 11 years for Turks Skipper Bob Wease. Wease is the former owner of the franchise and Head Coach of the Turks. Bob is a VBL lifer and his passion for the league and the Turks is something special. Coming into the season, it was unclear what the future would be for Bob in regard to the team. But with the Championship, Bob leaves a return to the team as skipper open for at least another year.

Congratulations to the Turks on the remarkable season in 2023 and winning the VBL Championship.
