VBL Alum and St. Louis Cardinals Utilityman Brandan Donovan wins the Rawlings Gold Gove in his rookie season. Donovan played for the New Market Rebels during the 2016 season with attending South Alabama University. Donovan hit .314 with 3HRs over 86ABs in the Valley that summer.
Brandan was drafted in the 7th Round of the 2018 draft by the Cardinals and worked his way through the minors until reaching the Big Leagues on April 25, 2022. Once there, Brendan has demonstrated his ability to play multiple positions at a high level. This year, Donovan played six positions for the cardinals logging significant innings at each. He saw most of his action at 2B (264.1 Innings) but also logged time at 3B (189 Innings), LF (144 Innings), RF (143 Innings), 1B (58 Innings), SS (56 Innings).
2022 has been a great start to Brendan’s career. Winning a Gold Glove in his rookie year while hitting .281 with 5HRs and 45 RBIs with an OBP of .394–In total Donovan played in 126 games and only committed 7 errors in 854.1 Innings covering multiple positions.
