Purcellville 5, Woodstock 3

The Cannons scored all five of their runs in the second inning and held off Woodstock 5-3.

Three Purcellville pitchers blanked the River Bandits for the first five innings. Starter Ryan Rushing (Indiana) pitched three innings and allowed one hit. He struck out five and walked three. Parker Davis (Dyersburg State) pitched the fourth and Brady Stuewe (Kansas State) worked the fifth and was credited with the win. Nick Gravel (Keystone)  pitched a scoreless ninth to record the save.

Gerardo Prado (Oklahoma) and Rafael Furcal Jr. (San Jacinto) each had two hits. Kobe White (LSU-Shreveport) drove in two runs for the Cannons.

Leadoff batter Joey Gale (St. Jospeh’s) had two of the River Bandits six hits.

Jordan Hodges (Cameron) pitched four scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Woodstock and Christian Toledo (Wayland Baptist) added three scoreless innings of relief. Toledo allowed just one hit and struck out five.

Harrisonburg 2, Covington 1

All the runs were scored in the first inning as the Turks edged Covington 2-1.

David Davila (Florida State) pitched seven innings and allowed one run on one hit to get the win. He struck out nine and walked two. Rhett Vaughn (Florida State) did not allow a hit over the final two innings to earn the win.

Josiah Seguin (Chipola) and Thomas Bly (St. Johns River) each had two hits for the Turks.

Covington’s Jeffred Fermi (Miami Dade-Kendall) and Michael Palenzuela (Barry) combined to blank the Turks over the final seven innings. Fermin gave up two hits and struck out five in four innings. Palenzuela pitched three innings and allowed three hits while striking out three and walking none.

Culpeper 8, Winchester 4

Culpeper fell behind early but rallied to defeat Winchester 8-4.

Mason Breton (Long Island) was 2-for-5 with a run batted in for Culpeper.

Branton Little (Wofford) was the winning pitcher, tossing four strong innings of relief. He allowed one run on one hit, struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Nick Avagnano (Richard Stockton) homered for the Royals.

Front Royal 4, Strasburg 3

Jackson Hill (Texas-Arlington) drove in the winning run with a double in the 10th inning to lift Front Royal to a 4-3 win over Strasburg.

Matthew Koeneke (Frederick CC) retired the Express in the bottom of the 10th inning to pick up a save.

Eduardo Castillo New Orleans) hit a pair of homers and drove in all three Express runs.

Waynesboro 8, New Market 6

Waynesboro jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and held on for an 8-6 win over New Market.

Waynesboro pounded out 16 hits, led by Anthony Clavet (Kennesaw State) with three. Gialdri Gomez (Seminole State), Parker Wight (UNC-Greensboro), Tracen Cameron (FIU), Kyzer Harrington (Texas-Arlington) and Jake Morgan (Maryland) each had two hits. Morgan and James Green II (Presbyterian) each drove in two runs.

Nathan Barnes (Longwood) pitched 2.1 innings of relief to get the win. He allowed no runs and just one base hit.

New Market leadoff batter Johnathan Mallow (Potomac State) had two hits and Logan Kelly (Colorado State-Pueblo) drove in two runs.

Staunton 6, Charlottesville 5

Staunton got back in the win column with a 6-5 win over the Tom Sox.

The Braves led 4-0 before the Tom Sox rallied to take the lead 5-4. Jacob Lester (Trevecca Nazarene) provided the winning hit with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, giving the Braves a 6-5 lead.

LT Cockrill (Delaware) was 2-for-5 with a homer, double and three RBIs. Mikey Urbaniak was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Cooper McDaniel (USC-Beaufort) was also 2-for-3 and scored one run.

Evan Koehler preserved the lead with three shutout innings to earn the save. Koehler allowed just one hit, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Hudson Lutterman (Virginia Tech) was 3-for-4 for the Tom Sox. James Nunnallee (Mississippi State) and Preston Gamster (TCU) each had two hits. Adonys Velez (FIU) homered for the Tom Sox.
