Express 6, River Bandits 5
Strasburg held off a late Woodstock rally to win 6-5.
Leadoff man Tanner Hardin (Wofford) was 3-for-5 and scored two runs for the Express. Brett Moseley (Mississippi) hit his fourth homer of the season and finished 2-for-4 with five RBIs.
Hunter Miller (Southern Indiana) was 3-for-3 to pace the River Bandits. William Tippett (South Carolina), Joey Gale (St. Joseph’s) and Austin Ford (Folsom Lake) each added two base hits.
Rebels 6, Royals 2
New Market scored five times in the sixth inning in a 6-2 win over Winchester.
Ike Schmidly (JMU) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Jack Johnson (Oklahoma City) was 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to power the Rebels. Michael Dobkowski (Enterprise State) also had two hits for New Market.
Cole Evilsizor pitched six innings to earn the victory, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out seven.
Todd Abraham had two hits for Winchester. Royals starter Cooper Campbell (VCU) pitched well, allowing one run on four hits in five innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.
Cannons 5, Harrisonburg 1
Purcellville downed Harrisonburg 5-1, handing the Turks their first loss.
Mitsuki Kohno (Johnson U.), Rafael Furcal Jr. (San Jacinto) and Ethan Acevedo (Indian Hills CC) each had two hits for the winning Cannons.
Luke Proehl (Marshall) got the win on the mound with three shutout innings. He allowed one hit and struck out four.
Robert Loper (Merrimack) pitched well in relief for the Turks, allowing one run on four hits in 4.1 innings.
Cardinals 10, Tom Sox 4
Front Royal scored eight runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 10-4 victory over Charlottesville.
Cayden Hessemyer (Florida Gulf Coast) was 3-for-5 to lead the Front Royal hitting. Sota Teshima (Santa Ana College) was 2-for-4 and Joshua Quezada (San Diego State) was 2-for-2 and scored three runs.
Jackson Sirois (Virginia), Patrick Niehus (Gardner-Webb) and Kaegan Costa (Paul D. Camp) each had two hits for the Tom Sox.
Cavaliers 15, Generals 4
Culpeper scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised past the Waynesboro Generals.
Leadoff batter Keeton Burroughs (Pittsburgh) was 4-for-5 and scored three runs for Culpeper. Ethan Belk (Wofford), Alejandro Ludiero (Lipscomb), Colby Motley (VCU), Caden Christman (Rutgers) and Donovan Mitchell (South Alabama) each had two hits for the Cavaliers. Motley, Christman and Mitchell each drove in three runs.
Culpeper starting pitcher Paul Witkop (Richmond) allowed one unearned run on four hits in three innings.
Generals’ leadoff batter Seth Buchanan (VMI) was 2-for-3.
Braves 18, Lumberjacks 1
The Staunton Braves improved to 4-1 with an 18-1 victory over the Covington Lumberjacks.
The Jacks walked 11 batters in the first three frames as the Braves bolted to a 15-1 lead. For the game Covington pitchers walked 16 hitters.
Wyatt Peifer, Zach Paczewski and Ty Galusky each had two hits for the Braves. Peifer was 2-for-3 and scored four runs. Paczewski was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Galusky was 2-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBIs.
Starting pitcher Kyle Batt (Rider) allowed one run on two hits in four innings. Matthew Lefevers (Radford) cruised through two innings, retiring six straight. Parker Munday (Akron) struck out the side in the final inning.
