Well, both games started last night, but only one finished- and what a finish it was!

Results

-North Finals game one- With Strasburg clinging to a 8-6 lead heading into the eighth inning, the rains came down and the floods came up. Again, since the league bylaws require completed playoff games, the teams will attempt to finish the contest this afternoon at 3 PM in Strasburg. The squads will then travel to Winchester to play game two, starting at 7:30 PM. (Note the later start time in Winchester- they are giving the teams an extra half hour to make the trek from Strasburg and prepare for the next contest.)
-South Finals game two- Down 6-5 with three outs to go, staring elimination in the face, the Staunton baseball club rallied to score twice in the ninth inning to shock Waynesboro and extend the series. The ninth went like this: Ryan McCarty walk, Cole Ragone (who took a bad hop grounder off the face earlier) walk, then an out. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and then Luke Trainer grounded out to second to score McCarty. Joe Delossantos then came through with the hit of the game, hitting a single to left field to score Ragone and send Joe Deck into happy hysterics. The Generals led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk as well, but the game ended with a strikeout and double play grounder. The teams will meet in a winner-take-all game three tonight in Staunton- due to start at 7:30!
