Former Charlottesville Tom Sox pitcher Trey Yesavage will take the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 5 of the World Series against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers will counter with LHP Blake Snell on the mound. The pitching duel is a rematch of Game 1 of the World Series won by the Blue Jays. Toronto won Game 1, 11-4.
Yesavage pitched four innings in Game 1 and allowed two earned runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked three. In four postseason starts, Yesavage has a 4.26 ERA and has struck out 27 batters in 19 innings.
The 22-year-old Yesavage became the second-youngest pitcher to start a World Series opener behind Brooklyn’s Ralph Branca, who was 21 years, 267 days old for Game 1 in 1947 at Yankee Stadium.
