Trey Yesavage’s historic performance has Toronto on the verge of winning the 2025 World Series.

Yesavage, who played in the Valley Baseball League for the Charlottesville Tom Sox, gave up one run on three hits. He struck out 12 and did not walk a batter in his seven-inning historic outing, sending the Blue Jays back to Toronto with a 3-2 lead over the Dodgers.

He set a rookie record for most strikeouts in a World Series game, breaking the record of 11 held by Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Don Newcombe and set in 1949.

He is the first pitcher with 10 strikeouts in the first five innings of a World Series game since Dodgers Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax turned the trick in 1963. He is also the first pitcher to do it twice in the same postseason.

Yesavage is the first pitcher in World Senes history to have 12 Ks and no walks in a game.

He is the fourth pitcher in World Senes history to strike out every player in the opposing lineup at least once, joining Randy Johnson (2001 Game 2), Bob Gibson (1968 Game 1) and Jesse Barnes (1921 Game 6).

He is also the youngest pitcher to record at least 10 strikeouts in a World Series game and the third youngest to accomplish the feat in a postseason game – and Yesavage did it TWICE this postseason.
